About us

Sojourners' Trails is a horror-fantasy audio drama made by BallaDeer Productions.Follow the crew of the Sojourner: the ship's captain running from her past, the first mate looking for their lost-at-sea father, a self-proclaimed prophet trying to understand his god’s cryptic messages in order to guide the Sojourner and her crew, and others.As they journey on, plots unfold, secrets are revealed and the crew discovers that their seemingly independent goals are not as standalone as they would first appear. Between questionable reliability of the prophecies distributed over the radio, trouble brought aboard from haunted islands they visit and arising conspiracies and schemes, relationships between the crew members are strained as they realize they can’t trust anything but the cards they have to play.

B. NARR (Kion)
B. Narr is an award-winning actor from Oklahoma who spends most of their time waxing poetic about monsters, writing queer horror, and—of course—pretending to be other people. You can find their current work in The Silt Verses as Faulkner, in The Waystation as Kelson Rickey, as well as many other audio dramas and indie video games.
JASPER LOCKE (Unaj)
Jasper Locke is a transmasculine artist and writer, with an interest in queer and neurodivergent centred horror & fantasy. He spends his time creating stories, DM’ing various tabletops and battling socks from two mischievous dogs. He can be found on Tumblr and Twitter @horrorlocke
BONNIE CALDERWOOD-ASPINWALL (Captain James-Elizabeth)
Bonnie Calderwood Aspinwall (they/them) is a non-binary Scottish voice actor, erstwhile theatre kid, Edinburgh Fringe veteran and itinerant poet. MONIKA M. MILANI (Radio Host Reina)
Monika M. Milani (she/they) is a Theater Arts student diligently pursuing a professional career in voice acting and Theater. She is a proud Asian-American daughter of immigrants and a dedicated advocate of representation in the arts. Aside from her studies and working on her voice, she loves to read about history, make cosplays of her favorite characters, and play video games with her friends. @madeupbymonika on Instagram
SEAN MAHAN (Grzegorz)
Sean is a retired U.S. Army officer who lives with his beautiful wife and best friend in southeast Virginia. Together they have two grown sons who both work in the health field. He brings a unique set of experiences that add layers to his scintillating ability to relate to the story and invent new interpretations. He has survived nuns in elementary school, being hit by a tornado, leading a platoon of Army tanks, and even visiting the inside of a 4,500 year-old Egyptian pyramid! For Sean, voice acting is living a lifelong dream, one he's practiced for family and friends for years.
LINDSAY ZANA (Tessa)
Lindsay Zana is an LA-based actor and singer with a passion for Shakespeare, audio dramas and musical theatre. She can be heard in audio drama podcasts such as Arden, Primordial Deep, Vacant Arcadia, and more! WARREN STEPHENS (Giovanni)
Warren Stephens is an actor, voice actor from Canada, with a bachelors in Motion Picture Arts.
Growing up homeschooled he spent his days coming up with voices and characters if only to have someone or something! - To talk to that wasn't his textbooks. DAVID PURKEY (Leno)
A diverse Voice Actor with experience in Radio Dramas, Improv Podcasts, Comedic Commercials, and everything in between, David is ready to provide whatever voice you need. David's presence in the creative arena is further known as the Owner/Operator of the IGD Talent Pool, Creative Director and Founder of David Purkey Studios, and Casting Director for both initiatives.
ARI INGALLS (Nora)
Ari is a queer, genderfluid writer who lives in Kansas with their spouse. They tell stories and occasionally make games, and enjoy photography and sewing in their spare time. They’ve been acting while playing TTRPGs for years, but this is their first voice acting roll. ANNA STEIN (Sascha)
Anna Stein is an artist, writer, and voice actor who is often flocked by a small army of cats. He has been told that she speaks as if possessed by the ghost of a 19th-century British gentleman, though others suspect her to simply be a vampire. Her writing can be found on Hubris, (2.01, 4.01), 11th Hour Audio (“The Mystery and Tragedy of the Renfield Four”), and Someone Dies In This Elevator (“Ups and Downs”). His voice can be heard in Hubris, 11th Hour Audio, Dark Tree Audio’s “A Non Traditional Engagement”, as well as in a few upcoming projects. She is also the man behind Knave Of Hearts Productions and is writing, performing, and showrunning its maiden podcast Before The Tone coming out in early winter. MARIEL ROJAS (Cecilia)
Mariel is based in Boston, MA where she was born and raised. She's always aspired to become a performer, and her first shows were singing and dancing for her family in their living room. Since then, she's done years of vocal training. She hopes to become a successful and versatile recording artist someday.

Moth is a Welsh non-binary mess, trained as a costumer but with a love of writing and storytelling if you hang out with them long enough they will sing at you and recite their poems.
JOEL DE JESUS (Rann)
Joel De Jesus is kinda like that cool older brother you always wanted despite being the youngest sibling with a 22 year age gap! Born and raised in Queens, NY with no one else around his age, he spent a lot of time playing JRPGs on his older sister’s Super Nintendo. Lending a voice to the silent protagonists ultimately cultivated his love for voice acting. Joel has a warm friendly voice that creates an authentic sound audiences feel they can trust. In his spare time, he likes to work out, pick locks, stream video games, and host a Mega Man podcast!
STEPHANIE TOBIN (Serah)
Stephanie is an award-nominated Australian voice actor residing in London. She discovered her passion for voice acting while completing her creative writing Master's degree, and has been featured in numerous audio dramas, video games, and other projects. Tim is a Polish-Sicilian theatre kid, voice actor and bard. He has loved podcasts as a medium for a while now and decided to make one of his own. When not working on audio and podcasts, he can be found singing and playing his lyre, or birdwatching.

First Mate of the Sojourner looking for their lost-at-sea father (and for the mythical Crabfolk they read about in his journal). Kion's older half-sibling.
Captain James-Elizabeth (he/she) | VA: Bonnie Calderwood-Aspinwall
Captain of the Sojourner, an infamous pirate currently on the run from his long and checkered past. She was once known as the King at the High Tide, Queen at the Low Tide.

A self-proclaimed prophet of a radio-dwelling god, taking shelter aboard the Sojourner and trying to decipher his deity’s cryptic messages in order to guide his “fellow pilgrims” as he calls the rest of the crew.
Radio Host Reina (she/her) | VA: Monika M. Milani
Youthful and enthusiastic, happy-go-lucky radio host who just started an absolutely, completely normal, regular, run-of-the-mill, definitely not haunted job at the radio station. The job application didn’t say a word about haunting!
Grzegorz (he/him) | VA: Sean Mahan
Quartermaster of The Sojourner with a sharp tongue and zero-tolerance-for-bullshit policy. He has sailed for many years with James-Elizabeth and treats him like his own child.
Tessa (she/her) | VA: Lindsay Zana
Boatswain of the Sojourner and a long time companion of James-Elizabeth’s. Often acting as a voice of reason when James-Elizabeth gives into his impulses.
Leno (he/him) | VA: David Purkey
Quartermaster of Scaramouche, rat-like, shifty and vile. Leno’s loyalty extends only as far as the benefits associated with the job go.
Giovanni (he/him) | VA: Warren Stephens
Captain of Scaramouche. Once an infamous pirate, now he works for The Commission as a pirate hunter. A deadbeat dad once using piracy, and now his career as an excuse not to take care of his kids; Unaj and Kion.
Nora (they/her) | VA: Ari Ingalls
The carpenter and surgeon aboard the Sojourner. They take her duty of keeping others alive and safe very personally.
Reina's Coworker (she/her) | VA: Lucy Dawning
Reina’s friend and co-worker at the radio station. Skeptical when it comes to Reina’s concerns about the hauntings.
Sascha (she/he) | VA: Anna Stein
Barkeep at Outpost Inn, whom James-Elizabeth contacts. One of few links to James-Elizbeth’s past. Sascha works as James-Elizabeth’s eyes and ears, giving him various intel over the phone.
Cecilia (she/her) | VA: Mariel Rojas
Leno's sister, she was helping him with his cons until he was caught and joined the Commission. She now operates on her own.

Kion's friend, obsessed with finding haunted places on the island.

Serah is a hopeless romantic with a crush on Kion.

Kion's close friend, owner of a local coffee-and-magic shop. When not out at sea, Kion lives on their couch.
